A resort city on the Gulf of Thailand, a couple of hours from Bangkok. It has plenty of entertainment, affordable hotels and quiet neighbourhoods away from the centre.

best time
November to March: dry and not as hot
highlights
Pattaya is for those who want the sea, entertainment and sensible spending without domestic flights. The city is close to Bangkok, there are lots of hotels for every budget, and there is always somewhere to go in the evening. It is popular with groups of friends, couples, families and travellers spending a long time in Thailand.
Pattaya has a reputation as a noisy nightlife city, and that is fair for the centre. But the quiet areas on the outskirts suit a relaxed family holiday too. If beautiful beaches and clear water matter more, take a look at Phuket.
From November to March it is dry, the heat is moderate and the sea is calm. This is peak demand, especially over the New Year holidays. From March to May it gets very hot.
June to October is the rainy season, but on the Gulf of Thailand the rain is usually lighter than on the Andaman Sea. You can still have a good holiday; just keep your plans flexible. A month-by-month breakdown is in our guide on when to go to Thailand.
Central Pattaya. Beach Road, shopping malls and Walking Street with its nightlife. Convenient if you want to be in the thick of things.
Jomtien. A long beach south of the centre, calmer, with many families and long-stay visitors.
Pratumnak. A hill between the centre and Jomtien with quiet little beaches and greenery. A good option for couples and families.
Naklua and Wongamat. The northern part, with Wongamat Beach and the Sanctuary of Truth nearby. Quieter than the centre but with good amenities.
Koh Larn is an island half an hour away by ferry, with several beaches and cleaner water. People go for the day and use motorbike taxis to get between beaches. There are also boat trips to more distant islands with snorkelling.
The Sanctuary of Truth is a huge carved wooden structure that is still under construction. Nong Nooch Tropical Garden has themed landscape areas. The viewpoint on Pratumnak Hill looks out over the bay. There is also a hill with a Buddha image carved into the rock.
Water parks, theme parks, a floating market and cabaret shows. Night markets with food and souvenirs. For children: an aquarium, Khao Kheow Open Zoo and amusement parks.
Golf courses around the city, go-karting, rope parks and water sports on the beaches.
7–10 nights is ideal. Combining it with Bangkok makes sense: fly in, spend 2–3 nights in the capital, then transfer to Pattaya.
Day one: Jomtien or Wongamat beach. Day two: the Sanctuary of Truth and a night market. Day three: a full day on Koh Larn. Day four: relaxing by the pool and a massage. Day five: Nong Nooch Garden and the floating market. Day six: a water park or Khao Kheow Zoo if you have children. Keep day seven free before heading to the airport: the transfer to Bangkok takes time.
Flights from Tashkent: our manager will find direct and connecting options; you usually land in Bangkok and then transfer. Check Thailand’s entry rules for citizens of Uzbekistan before you travel.
Choose your area to match the kind of holiday you want: the centre and quiet Pratumnak are completely different trips. Only use reputable operators for jet skis and vehicle rental, and photograph the equipment before using it. Be sure to take out travel insurance: it will help with any injury or illness.
Buses and taxis run between Pattaya and Bangkok, but with luggage and children a pre-booked transfer is more convenient. Songthaew pickup trucks circulate along Beach Road and are a cheap way to get around town. Agree on the price in advance if you are going off the standard route. Bargaining is normal at markets, while prices in shopping malls are fixed.
Rules are given as of October 2026 and may change: check with our manager or the official embassy website before you travel.
Tell us what kind of holiday you want: lively in the centre or relaxed by the beach. Yes, if you choose the right area. Families are better off in Jomtien, Naklua or Pratumnak rather than in the centre near Walking Street.
The water on the central beach is not the cleanest, so it is better to swim at Jomtien, Wongamat or on Koh Larn. Many people go to Koh Larn for the day.
Usually about two hours by car from Suvarnabhumi Airport, depending on traffic. You can book a transfer in advance.
Usually 7–10 nights. Three nights in Bangkok followed by a week in Pattaya works well.
