Thailand is one of the most popular winter holiday destinations from Uzbekistan. Yet its entry rules have changed more often than those of many other countries: the list of visa-exempt countries and permitted stays have been revised, and online arrival registration has been introduced. So rather than relying on friends’ advice, check the rules before every trip.

Rules are given as of October 2026 and may change: check with our manager or the official embassy website before you travel.

How Entry to Thailand Works

There are three main scenarios for foreigners:

  • Visa-free entry. Citizens of countries on a special list can enter without a visa for a limited period for tourism.
  • Visa on arrival. For some countries, a visa is available at the airport.
  • Visa obtained in advance. Thailand has moved tourist visa applications online, and they are submitted through the official system.

Which scenario applies to citizens of Uzbekistan on your dates needs to be checked before the trip. We verify this when pricing every tour.

Digital Arrival Card

Thailand has introduced a digital arrival card that must be completed online shortly before your trip. It asks for your passport and flight details, accommodation address and some health information. Complete it only on the official website: there are intermediary sites online that charge a fee for this.

Save the confirmation on your phone. If something goes wrong with the registration, our manager will help sort it out before departure.

What Is Checked at the Border

Even with visa-free entry, the immigration officer decides whether to admit a traveller. Usually they check:

  • your passport’s validity and that it has blank pages;
  • a return ticket or a ticket to a third country within the permitted period;
  • a hotel booking or accommodation address;
  • sometimes, funds for the trip.

Keep these documents on your phone and, just in case, printed out. Answer questions calmly and clearly: the purpose of your trip, where you’re staying and when you’re leaving.

If You Need a Visa

When applying for a visa in advance, you’re usually asked for a passport scan, a photo, proof of bookings and tickets, and proof of sufficient funds. The exact list and fees depend on the visa type and the rules at the time of application, so we don’t list them here. Our manager will explain the current procedure and help you prepare the form.

Length of Stay

It’s important not to confuse the visa’s validity with the permitted length of stay. Overstaying in Thailand carries strict fines and can lead to an entry ban. Plan your return flight so you stay within the permitted period.

Before You Travel

Be sure to get travel insurance: medical care in Thailand is expensive for foreigners, and motorbike rentals and boat trips are common reasons for seeing a doctor. Our guide on the best time to visit Thailand will help you choose dates, and the most popular resorts are covered on the Phuket page.

Common Questions Before Departure

If your passport has few pages left. Make sure there are blank pages for stamps, or you may run into problems at the border.

If you have a connecting flight. Check whether you need a visa for the transit country, especially if the layover is long or the tickets were booked separately.

If you’re travelling with a child. An arrival card is completed for every traveller, including children. Additional documents may be needed for a child to leave Uzbekistan with one parent, so it’s best to sort this out before buying the tour.

If you plan to visit neighbouring countries. When you leave Thailand and re-enter, the rules apply afresh, and the number of visa-free entries may be limited. Discuss such a route with our manager in advance.

FAQ

Do citizens of Uzbekistan need a visa for Thailand?

It depends on the rules in force on your travel dates: in recent years Thailand has changed its list of visa-exempt countries and the permitted length of stay. Check the current rules with our manager or on the official website of the Thai Embassy.

What is Thailand's digital arrival card?

It's an online form that foreign travellers fill in before arrival instead of the paper immigration card. It's completed on the official website, and our manager will give you the link and explain the process.

What might I be asked at passport control in Thailand?

Officers usually check your passport and return or onward ticket and may ask where you're staying. Sometimes they ask about funds for the trip, so keep proof of your bookings handy.

Can I extend my stay in Thailand?

In some cases an extension is possible through Thai immigration. The conditions depend on your entry status, so plan your trip within the permitted period.
