Who Antalya suits

Antalya is the most straightforward beach holiday for a family: you land, check in to a hotel with meals included, the kids head to the pool and the kids’ club, and the adults go to the beach. The choice of hotels is huge, from small city hotels to resort complexes spread over dozens of hectares. It is a good option for your first beach trip from Uzbekistan.

Antalya also suits people who don’t want to stay in one place. The city is lively: an old quarter, waterfronts and malls, with mountains, canyons and ancient ruins an hour away. Couples and groups of friends often pick the city centre, while families go for the resorts outside town.

Season

The beach season opens in May, when the water is still cool but the sun is already strong. June and September are considered the best months: the sea is warm and the heat is easier to bear. In July and August the air temperature often climbs above 35°C, so the day revolves around the morning and evening hours.

In October the water still holds its warmth, while prices are already lower. From November to March it is too cool to swim on the coast, but many hotels stay open with indoor pools. More on how the weather changes month by month in our guide on when to go to Turkey.

Areas and beaches

Lara and Kundu. The eastern side, with a wide sandy beach and large hotels along the coast. The airport is close, which helps with kids.

Konyaalti. The western side of the city, a long beach of fine pebbles with a park and promenade alongside. It is easy to walk or ride to the old town from here.

Kaleici. The historic centre, with boutique hotels in old houses. There are hardly any beaches right here, but the evenings are lovely and there are plenty of restaurants. Good for couples and short stays.

Belek. About 40 minutes from the city, a resort zone with beachfront hotels, sand and pine trees. Quiet, with everything inside the hotel.

Kemer. About an hour to the west, at the foot of the Taurus Mountains. Pebble beaches, clear water and the cable car up Mount Tahtali nearby.

What to see and do

In the city

Kaleici with its narrow streets, old harbour and Hadrian’s Gate. The Antalya Museum with finds from the region’s ancient cities. The Lower Duden Waterfall, which plunges straight off a cliff into the sea.

Day trips

Ancient Perge and the remarkably well-preserved theatre of Aspendos. Kursunlu Waterfall and the Koprulu Canyon, where people go rafting in summer. Myra and Demre with the Church of St Nicholas. The Tahtali cable car above Kemer.

For kids

Water parks, a dolphinarium, a zoo and boat trips along the coast. Many hotels work like an amusement park themselves, so families often barely leave. How to choose a hotel with a child in mind is covered in our guide to family holidays in Turkey.

How many days

The standard is 7–10 nights. A week gives you a proper rest, while 10 nights let you add a couple of excursions without rushing. For a change of scene you can combine Antalya with Alanya or Istanbul.

A sample week in Antalya

The first two days are for settling in by the sea. On day three, head to Kaleici and the Duden waterfalls, then have dinner by the old harbour. Days four and five: back to the beach and the pool. Day six is a good time for a trip to Perge and Aspendos or rafting in the Koprulu Canyon. Keep the last day for rest and packing, and don’t plan anything far away before an early flight.

Good to know

Flights from Tashkent: our manager will find direct and connecting options. Demand is high in summer, especially during school holidays, so it is best to book early.

Check what exactly a hotel’s all-inclusive covers: drinks, à la carte restaurants, beach towels, entertainment. It is also worth confirming the distance to the beach and its type (sand or pebbles) before booking. In summer, bring high-SPF sunscreen and a hat: the sun here is strong.

Rules are given as of October 2026 and may change: check with our manager or the official embassy website before you travel.

FAQ

Where is best to stay in Antalya with kids?

Families usually go for Lara and Kundu: sandy beaches, a gentle slope into the water and big hotels with water parks and kids' clubs. Belek is also popular with families, as the hotels there sit on large grounds.

When can you swim in Antalya?

The swimming season runs from about mid-May to late October. The water is warmest in July and August, but the air is hot too, so many people find June and September more comfortable.

How is Antalya different from Kemer and Belek?

Antalya is a big city with town beaches, malls and an old quarter. Kemer sits at the foot of the mountains, with pebble beaches and clear water. Belek is a resort zone with large hotels, sand and golf courses.

How many days should I spend in Antalya?

For a beach holiday people usually take 7–10 nights. If you want trips to ancient cities and the mountains, add another day or two away from the beach.
