Sightseeing Tours in Europe

Europe is perfect for anyone who loves cities, museums, architecture and food. Here is how to plan a route that lets you see a lot without wearing yourself out.

  1. IItaly, France, Spain and the Czech Republic are great for a first trip
  2. IIBetter 2–3 cities in a week than 6 countries in one tour

  5. VYou need a Schengen visa, so start preparing early

Sightseeing in Europe means strolling through old quarters, famous museums, cafés on squares and trains that take you from one country to another in a couple of hours. The main mistake on a first trip is trying to see everything at once. Fewer cities, with time to actually feel them, works better.

Routes for a first trip

Italy: Rome, Florence, Venice

The classic 8–10 day route. In Rome: the Colosseum, the Vatican, fountains and piazzas. In Florence: Renaissance art. In Venice: canals and gondolas. High-speed trains make it easy to travel between the cities. You can add Milan for shopping.

France: Paris and around

Paris deserves at least 4–5 days: the Louvre, Montmartre, the Eiffel Tower, walks along the Seine. From the city you can take trips to Versailles, Disneyland or the Loire Valley châteaux. It combines well with Belgium or the Netherlands.

Spain: Barcelona and Madrid

Barcelona offers Gaudí’s architecture, beaches and great food. Madrid has museums and the Royal Palace. In summer you can combine sightseeing with the sea.

The Czech Republic and its neighbors

Prague is one of the most beautiful and walkable cities in Europe. From there it’s easy to reach Vienna and Budapest, making a popular three-capitals route.

How to plan your route

  1. Choose your main country. It determines which consulate you apply to for the visa.
  2. Pick 2–3 base cities. Everything else can be day trips.
  3. Allow time for transfers. Even a short journey takes half a day once you count check-out and check-in.
  4. Leave free time. Europe is a pleasure simply to wander, not only to tick off a list.

How many days

  • 5–6 days: one city with trips to the surroundings.
  • 8–10 days: two or three cities in one or neighboring countries.
  • 12–14 days: a full itinerary, with room to add the seaside.

Where to stay

Choose hotels in the center or near the metro: it saves time and energy. In historic centers rooms are often small, and old buildings may have no lift, so keep this in mind when traveling with children or elderly relatives.

Getting around

Between cities, take trains and short flights. Within cities, use the metro and walk. Renting a car makes sense for trips through the countryside, such as Tuscany, but parking in city centers is difficult and expensive.

When to go

Spring and autumn are ideal. In summer Italy and Spain are hot and crowded, but you can combine the trip with the sea. In winter Europe is quieter and has Christmas markets, but the days are short.

Visa

Citizens of Uzbekistan need a Schengen visa. Start preparing several months ahead: you need to book an appointment, gather documents and confirm your bookings. The procedure is described in detail in our guide to the Schengen visa. We help with the itinerary and the bookings needed for your application.

Flights

From Tashkent there are direct and connecting flights to Europe, depending on the city. Sometimes it’s better value to fly into one city and out of another. A manager will find the options.

Europe with children and parents

With children, choose a route with fewer moves and add parks, zoos and interactive museums to the program. With elderly parents, hotels with lifts, short walking distances and time to rest between excursions matter. Sightseeing bus or boat tours work well, as does a private guide who can adapt the pace to your group.

Trip budget

Europe can vary a lot in cost. The main expenses are flights, hotels in city centers, transport between cities and museum tickets. Traveling in the shoulder season, staying a little further from the main squares but close to the metro, and buying train tickets in advance all help you save.
