Dubai: beaches, skyscrapers and shopping

A city where you can lie on the beach in the morning, browse the malls in the afternoon and go up the Burj Khalifa at night. One of the most popular winter choices for travellers from Uzbekistan.

Who Dubai suits

Dubai suits almost anyone happy with a city-style holiday. Families come for the beaches, water parks and safety; couples for the views, restaurants and hotels with rooftop pools. Many fly in for the shopping: the malls are enormous, and during the sales the choice is even bigger.

It is not the cheapest destination, but the range of hotels is wide, from small city hotels to resorts on the Palm. The city is easy for a first trip abroad: everything is clear, English is understood everywhere, and transport and taxis run like clockwork.

Season

High season runs from November to March. Daytime temperatures are around 25–30°C, the sea is warm and you can stroll along the waterfronts in the evening. The New Year holidays are the peak, so book early.

October and April are still good, though the days are already hot. From June to September temperatures climb above 40°C and walking around in the daytime is tough, but hotel prices are lower. More in our guide on when to go to the UAE.

Where to stay

Jumeirah Beach Residence and Dubai Marina. Beach, promenade, restaurants and high-rises. Ideal if you want the sea and city life side by side.

Palm Jumeirah. An artificial island with resort hotels and private beaches. Suits a relaxed beach holiday.

Jumeirah. Beach hotels along the coast, closer to the centre, with views of the Burj Al Arab.

Downtown and Business Bay. By the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall. Good for the city and shopping, but you will need to travel to the beach.

Deira and Bur Dubai. The old part of the city by the creek, with souks and lots of affordable hotels.

What to see and do

The city

The Burj Khalifa: observation decks on different floors, with the dancing fountain below in the evening. Dubai Mall with its aquarium. The Museum of the Future and the Dubai Frame with views of the old and new city.

Old Dubai

The Al Fahidi district with stone houses and wind towers. Crossing the creek on a traditional abra boat. The gold and spice souks in Deira.

The desert

A jeep safari over the dunes with dinner at a camp is a first-trip classic. There are calmer options too: an early ride to catch the sunset or sunrise, camels, or a hot-air balloon flight.

With kids

Water parks, indoor amusement parks and theme parks outside the city. How to plan this kind of trip is covered in our guide to family holidays in the UAE.

Shopping

The biggest malls, outlets and souks. Tips on where to go and what to buy are in our guide to shopping in Dubai.

How many days

Five to seven nights is ideal. If you want to add Abu Dhabi or the neighbouring emirates, plan 8–10 nights. Weekend trips to Dubai are less common: the flight and visa formalities make a very short trip less worthwhile.

Sample 6-day itinerary

Day one: the beach and an evening walk along the Marina. Day two: Downtown, with the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and the dancing fountain. Day three: Old Dubai, an abra across the creek and the Deira souks. Day four: the beach by day and a desert safari in the evening. Day five: a water park or the Museum of the Future. Keep day six for shopping and packing. This plan is easy to adapt for kids or for a couple’s getaway.

Good to know

Flights from Tashkent: our manager will find direct and connecting options. Citizens of Uzbekistan need to get their UAE visa before departure.

Modest clothing is expected in public places, and swimwear is only appropriate on the beach and by the pool. Alcohol is sold in licensed venues, and drinking in the street is prohibited. Hotels may charge a tourism fee, which is confirmed when booking. In summer, always factor in the heat when planning excursions.

Rules are given as of October 2026 and may change: check with our manager or the official embassy website before you travel.
