South Korea Visa for Citizens of Uzbekistan

Citizens of Uzbekistan need a visa for a tourist trip to South Korea. Here's how the process works, what the consulate pays attention to and how to prepare in advance.

  1. IA Korean tourist visa is obtained before the trip
  2. IIDocuments are submitted through the consular section of the Korean Embassy or an authorised application channel
  3. IIIThe consulate carefully assesses the purpose of the trip and your ties to Uzbekistan
  4. IVYou're usually asked about your job, finances and travel plans
  5. VThe K-ETA electronic travel authorisation does not replace a visa for citizens of Uzbekistan

South Korea draws travellers from Uzbekistan with its modern cities, Korean food, shopping and a culture many know from TV dramas and music. A tourist trip here requires a visa, and the application deserves to be taken seriously: the consulate checks applicants thoroughly.

Rules are given as of October 2026 and may change: check with our manager or the official embassy website before you travel.

Do You Need a Visa?

Citizens of Uzbekistan need a visa to visit South Korea for tourism. Many have heard of K-ETA, the electronic travel authorisation, but it is intended for citizens of visa-exempt countries and generally does not apply to citizens of Uzbekistan. So a visa is what you apply for.

Where to Apply

The application procedure is set by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Tashkent. Applications may be submitted directly or through authorised channels, and this procedure changes from time to time. Before preparing your documents, check the current method with our manager or on the embassy’s official website.

Types of Visa

For tourists, the main option is a short-term visa for tourism and visits. There are other categories too: business, study, work and guest visas by invitation. The visa type must match the real purpose of your trip: if you’re going on holiday, apply for a tourist visa.

What the Consulate Pays Attention To

Korea is a popular destination for labour migration, so the consulate carefully assesses whether an applicant will return home. In practice, it looks at:

  • the purpose of the trip, meaning a clear itinerary and bookings;
  • employment, meaning a permanent job or a business in Uzbekistan;
  • finances, meaning sufficient funds for the trip;
  • travel history, meaning previous visas and compliance with permitted stays in other countries.

What Is Usually Required

The exact list is set by the embassy, but broadly it includes an application form, passport, photo, documents on your employment and income, proof of funds and a travel plan with bookings. Children and pensioners have their own requirements. We don’t publish an exact list because it’s updated, and our manager will give you the current version.

Processing Times

Processing times depend on the embassy’s workload and the season. Plan your application early: interest in Korea is especially high in spring during cherry blossom season and in autumn. Don’t buy non-refundable tickets until you have your visa.

How to Prepare Your Trip

For a first visit, most people choose Seoul: you can spend 5–7 days there, combining palaces, modern districts, markets and day trips out of the city. The best time to visit is spring or autumn; more in our guide on where to travel in spring. For an overview of the country, see the South Korea page.

There are various flight options from Tashkent to Seoul, and our manager will find direct and connecting flights for your dates.

Common Mistakes When Preparing

  • The wrong visa type. If you’re visiting relatives or travelling for work, a tourist visa isn’t suitable; you need the appropriate category.
  • Inconsistent documents. The dates on your bookings, employer’s letter and application form must match.
  • Buying non-refundable tickets before the visa is issued. If you’re refused, the money may not be returned.
  • Inaccurate information on the form. Discrepancies with your documents raise questions and may lead to a refusal.

If Your Visa Is Refused

You can reapply, but it’s best to first work out what may have caused the refusal: insufficiently documented income, an unclear purpose of travel or issues with previous visas. We’ll help you assess the situation and prepare to reapply.

Travelling with Children

A visa is issued for every traveller, including children. Minors may need additional documents, such as a birth certificate and parental consent. Discuss this with our manager before applying.
