In summer, people in Tashkent want the sea and some cool air, and this is when the choice of destinations is widest. The main thing is not to mix up the seasons: some popular winter destinations are too hot or rainy in summer. Below are tried-and-tested options for June, July and August.

The Mediterranean

Turkey

The most popular summer destination for families. The season is in full swing, the sea is warm and hotels are running at full capacity. Antalya, Kemer, Belek, Side, Alanya, Bodrum: the choice depends on whether you want a sandy beach, nature or city life. An overview of the resorts is on our Turkey page.

Greece and Cyprus

The Greek islands and Cyprus are for those who love clear water, tavernas and strolling through old towns. Crete is big and varied and suits both families and couples. Cyprus makes it easy to combine the beach, historic sites and active holidays. You’ll need to sort out the visa in advance.

Montenegro

A small country with mountains right by the sea. Montenegro appeals to those who want to combine the beach, the old towns of Kotor and Budva and trips into the mountains. It’s lively in summer, so for a quiet holiday choose small villages.

Destinations close to home

Georgia

In summer in Georgia you can enjoy the sea in Batumi and escape the heat in the mountains: Kazbegi, Svaneti, Borjomi. Tbilisi is hot in July, so it’s best to stop in the city for just a couple of days.

Azerbaijan

Baku is windy and sunny in summer, and the Caspian coast offers beach holidays. Convenient for a short trip.

Tropical spots with a summer dry season

Bali

The summer months are Bali’s dry season. It’s a great time for surfing, exploring the island and a villa holiday. Demand is high, so book early.

Koh Samui

In Thailand in summer, it’s better to choose Koh Samui and the Gulf of Thailand islands: they’re usually drier than Phuket, and the sea is calmer.

Nha Trang

Central Vietnam is in season in summer: sunny, with the sea good for swimming and snorkeling.

Where not to go in summer

  • The UAE, Egypt, Qatar. Very hot. A holiday is possible, but walking around is limited.
  • Phuket, the Maldives, Sri Lanka (southwest). Monsoon season: rain and waves, though prices are lower.
  • India (Goa). Rainy season; most beach life comes to a halt.

Tips for summer trips

  • Book early. Demand peaks in July and August and during school holidays.
  • Choose a hotel with shade. Trees on the grounds and shades by the pool matter more than you’d think.
  • Plan excursions for the morning. Midday sun is hard going, especially for children.
  • Check the air conditioning. In reviews, look out for complaints about air conditioning and noise.

How many days to plan: 7–10 nights for the beach, 10–14 for a combined itinerary. Flights from Tashkent can be direct or with a connection; a manager will find options for your dates.

Summer with children

The summer holidays are the main season for family trips. For little ones, hotels with a sandy beach, a children’s pool and shade on the grounds are best. School-age kids enjoy resorts that offer water parks, boat trips and excursions besides the beach. In July and August, choose a hotel not far from the airport so you don’t wear yourself out on a long transfer in the heat.

A short summer break

If you only have 4–5 days, Georgia, Azerbaijan or Istanbul are good options: a short flight and a full program. For a beach holiday of that length, Turkey is more convenient, with its wide choice of hotels and flights.

When to book

Demand for the summer months starts building in spring. If a specific hotel, a family room or a convenient flight time matters to you, it’s best to decide several months ahead. If you’re open to compromise on the hotel and dates, you can also consider offers closer to departure.

Turkey is the most common choice: convenient flights, all inclusive and family hotels. Cyprus, Greece and Montenegro also work well if your children enjoy walks and you don't need a big water park.

Where should I go in summer if I don't like heat?

Montenegro, Georgia with its mountain regions, Bali, as well as northern Europe and the mountains. The Mediterranean is hot in July–August, but it's easier to bear by the water.

Is it worth going to Thailand in summer?

Yes, if you choose Koh Samui and the Gulf of Thailand islands, which are usually drier in summer. Phuket has its rainy season and waves at that time.

Can I go to the UAE in summer?

You can, but it's very hot during the day, and your holiday will mostly be at the hotel, in malls and on the beach early in the morning. Hotel prices in the Emirates are usually better in summer.
